What is an uncontested divorce?
It's a divorce where both spouses agree on the big questions: how to split what you own and owe, and (if you have kids) custody and support. Since there's nothing for a judge to settle, it's faster and cheaper, and you usually don't need a lawyer.
Is an online divorce legally valid?
Yes. We prepare the same official forms your local court uses, and you file them the same way you would if a lawyer had prepared them. A judge grants the divorce, exactly like any other.
How much does it cost?
One flat fee of $149 for the complete uncontested divorce package. Your court charges its own filing fee on top of that, which varies by state and county. We show you that number up front so nothing catches you by surprise.
How long does it take?
Preparing your paperwork usually takes a weekend or less. After you file, most states have a waiting period before a judge signs off, anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. We tell you what to expect where you live.
What if we don't agree on everything?
Then your divorce may be contested, and an online service probably isn't the right fit. Plenty of couples get there with a bit of conversation first. If your situation is genuinely complicated, we'll say so and point you to a licensed attorney.
Do I have to go to court?
Often, no. Many states finalize uncontested divorces without either spouse setting foot in a courtroom. Some counties want a short final hearing. Your instructions spell out what yours requires.
Is my information private?
Yes. Your information is encrypted and stored securely, we never sell it, and you can ask us to delete your account at any time. Our Privacy Policy has the details.
Are you a law firm?
No, and we're careful about that line. We're a self-help service that gives you information and prepares your documents. We can't give legal advice. If you need that, talk to a licensed attorney in your state.
